About the Coroner's Office
The County Coroner is responsible for investigating deaths within the jurisdiction of the office to help determine the cause and manner of death.
Findings and required information are reported to appropriate state agencies, including the Mississippi State Department of Health and the Office of the State Medical Examiner.
The Coroner's Office works with law enforcement, emergency medical services, medical professionals, funeral homes, families, and state agencies as necessary during death investigations.

Duties & Responsibilities
Death Investigations
Investigating deaths that fall within the jurisdiction of the County Coroner and documenting the circumstances surrounding those deaths.
Cause & Manner of Death
Working to determine and document the cause and manner of death in accordance with applicable Mississippi law and medicolegal procedures.
Agency Coordination
Coordinating with law enforcement, emergency medical services, healthcare providers, the State Medical Examiner, and other agencies when necessary.
State Reporting
Providing required findings, records, and information to appropriate state agencies as part of the death investigation and vital-record process.
Missing & Unidentified Persons Information
Wilkinson County plans to use this section to provide appropriate public information regarding missing persons and unidentified deceased individuals when information may assist with identification.
Information will be posted when available and when appropriate for public release.
